Introduction:<\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Environment Conservation Society (SwitchON Foundation) invites proposals from qualified research agencies to conduct a baseline study in the districts of Hooghly, Bankura, Purulia, Nadia, and Kalimpong in West Bengal. The primary objective is to assess the current scenario of the Farmers Producers Organizations (FPOs) and gather data to effectively guide project interventions. Please note that the scope of work is limited solely to data collection and analysis.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4>2. Objectives of the Baseline Study:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Collect baseline data on agriculture, livelihood, and the organizational capacity of each FPO.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Conduct an Organizational Capacity Assessment Tool (OCAT) for all six FPOs.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Survey 600 farmers from 6 FPOs (100 each) to capture socio-economic, agricultural, and gender-specific data.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Analyze the role of gender in agricultural practices, decision-making, and access to resources.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>3. Scope of Work:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Conduct field surveys and data collection in the target districts.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Develop data collection tools and questionnaires in consultation with the Environment&nbsp; Conservation Society (SwitchON Foundation).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Perform Organizational Capacity Assessment Tool (OCAT) for all identified FPOs.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Submit the raw data and analysis.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Study Areas:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Agricultural practices and cropping patterns.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Livelihood and income sources.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Organizational capacity and operational efficiency of FPOs.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gender roles, participation, and challenges in agriculture and within FPO structures.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>4. Methodology<\/h4>\n<p><strong>A. Research Design<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Employ a mixed-methods approach combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Incorporate focus group discussions (FGDs) specifically for female farmers and women leaders within FPOs.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>B. Data Collection Tools<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Structured Questionnaires:<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Separate modules to capture:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">General socio-economic data<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Agricultural practices (crop types, area, farming techniques)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gender-specific questions such as:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"3\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Role of women in decision-making<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"3\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Access to agricultural resources<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"3\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Participation in FPO activities<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"3\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Challenges faced by female farmers<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Organizational Capacity Assessment (OCAT):<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Evaluate each FPO\u2019s internal structure with added questions on gender diversity and inclusion policies.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>C. Sampling<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">FPO Coverage:<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Six FPOs selected based on predetermined criteria (e.g., geographic location, performance, and diversity).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Farmer Sample:<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Random sampling of 100 farmers per FPO, totaling 600 farmers, ensuring that gender-disaggregated data is collected.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>5. Selection Criteria:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Minimum of 3 years of experience in research and baseline studies.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Demonstrated experience working with farmers and agricultural projects.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Local presence in West Bengal and proficiency in Bangla.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Proven track record with organizational profile and examples of previous work.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ability to provide all raw data and SPSS data.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Capacity to conduct OCAT with FPOs.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>6.
