Project Background

SwitchON Foundation is a part of a national Sustainable Mobility Network, which is an informal network of organizations from across India that work on transportation and mobility issues. The Network primarily focuses on streamlining and optimizing local policy action for a transformative change reflecting on India’s ambitious ongoing EV Transition.

As a part of the network SwitchON Foundation works towards awareness building among masses, while campaigning for adoption of a clean transportation system like Non motorized transport system in Kolkata. Over the years, in the backdrop of growing air pollution in the city, SwitchON Foundation has successfully highlighted the importance of a clean public transportation system and has been advocating for lifting the ‘Ban on Cycling’ on Kolkata primary roads. SwitchON also has been advocating for the introduction of the Trams System in Kolkata, which has been historically India’s oldest EV transportation system.
