Clean Air is a fundamental human right, yet millions around the world continue to suffer from the detrimental effects of air pollution. Recognizing the urgency of the issue, the United Nations has declared September 7th as the UN International Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies. To commemorate this day, SwitchON Foundation in collaboration with ASAR and various other schools, initiated a Poster Making and Videography Competition on the theme of Together for Clean Air among school students, encouraging them to express their insights, and thoughts on the current scenario of pollution through art and creative designing. Thoughts will create a new manifesto for raising awareness amongst people all over the world to combat air pollution and promote clean and sustainable practices.
ASAR, The Social Impact Advisors endeavored a clean air drive to adjoin virtually all human beings in a single chain on the occasion of the UN International Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies. This one-week event from 1st to 7th September 2023 fostered the visibility ideas of everyone on the effect of air pollution on public health and the environment. This poster and videography competition places a particular emphasis on engaging youth where around 43+ schools and more than 275+ students have participated from cities such as Kolkata, Howrah, Bardawan, Durgapur, Barrackpore, Andol, and so on. Schools namely, DAV Model School, Durgapur, Delhi Public School, Burdwan, GPS Memorial School, Howrah, Kendriya Vidyalaya no. 2 Salt Lake, and significantly more have emerged in this inspiring initiative of showcasing green creativity.
Posters and Videos are potent tools for captivating current scenarios of the environment and young minds will sprout out louder voices through their intriguing ideas to communicate about the effects of air pollution and the sustainable lifestyle that everyone should adopt now. It will lead to a long-term positive change. Students have shown so many inventive creations on the current impact of air pollution, global warming, health hazards, deforestation, plantation, and many more. It has promoted valuable access to students through this platform to be a part of this drive. Students have been rewarded district-wise based on their creative ideas. The videography contest cheers up winners by considering Senior, Super Senior, & Appreciation verticals from West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Odisha. At the same time, the poster competition inspires children by considering Junior, Senior, Super Senior & Excellence verticals from West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Odisha.
